Lorken Food Finery Hype Party <3

Holly from Phe.MOM.enon (one of the "sexy six" backstage blogger) planned a fun hype party for Mom's Who Make It Conference at Lorken Food Finery in Gardner Village. I took Van, BFF, and Sam Jo with me for a night of out with the girls.
Holly showed all of the ladies how to make these delightful star sugar cookies. Van was a party pooper, and didn't want hers to have icing on it. She was willing to make one though...really easy and fun.If I ever decide to be a chef, or even cook more than once a week...Lorken Food Finery is the place shop.I love the decor, and all of the cute colors. They make a brown fridge from the 70's look adorable, and of course it is filled with delightful beverages.
They have a whole section of stuff just for kids. I will definitely be going back to buy some kits for Van. I am hoping that if I start letting her cook early she won't be like me. =) Lorken's also does cooking classes for kids, teens, and adults...we will be attending one for a playdate.

Thank you Holly for making a great girly night out.

Stay tuned for more info about hype parties, tweet up's, and fun with the backstage bloggers...this conference is going to be so fun!! Have you gotten your tickets yet? BFF and Sam Jo can't go, and I am lookin' for sidekicks!!

Another Hype PartAY!

Remember last week when I went to The Sweet Tooth Fairy, and had those delightful cupcakes? This week they are holding a hype party for my Salt Lake poss-E. Girls we need to represent, and honestly who would ever pass up a chance to hang out at a lil' shop in Gardner Village!? You are even welcome to bring your children. I know Van will be there, and will beg until I take her to find the Gardner Village cat, Snowball.

I hope that I see some familiar faces, or some of my readers that I haven't met in IRL.

Loves.

Dunk Tank, nuff said!

At Van's request, I got in the dunk tank at the RCW party. Van was given strict instructions to make Mommy ALL wet, and that she did. I think that these are my favorite pictures so far this summer. This is my 2nd go around, and I knew what was coming...
She thought that it was hilarious, and I was more than willing to make my daughter happy!

Gas, the kind you put in your car =)

The winner of Paul's giveaway is...

I dont know about the drilling in Alaska to make a real smart choice but for years I have thought we should be doing more up there that we're doing now. It's just nicer to think that our country can do more to be self-sufficient instead of having to depend on others.

Where are you going to go on a free tank of gas?

E-mail me so I can get it mailed out to you. =)

Happy Monday friends!

Cherish Bound & Timpanogos Story Telling Festival

When I got invited to this event, I had no idea what I was even signing up for. I thought that if nothing else it will be a fun night with the girls. After 2 hours I was pumped up to spread the word about all the fun that I had. =)

This event was held at the Orem City Library, and I followed the smell of Blue Lemon to where I found all the girls mingling. Remember the salad I raved about a month ago? I got to have it again, and it was just as good.
I love their presentation, and if notice the big blue arrow on the picture below...those little triangular things I couldn't stop eating. I lost track after 3.When they told me that we were going to listen to story tellers, I imagined something totally different. I dunno what I thought...maybe a book, a big chair, and someone reading me a story like in elementary school, maybe even a little boring. So not what happened. It was spectacular. You got caught up in the stories, and at one moment I actually teared up. You can feel their emotions, the energy that surrounds them, and the stories were original. It made me wonder why everyone doesn't go to the Timpanogos Story Telling Festival, and why I had never heard of it!? I can't wait for September, because you bet I am gonna be there with Van enjoying some more of it.

(Wendy a story teller, Big Bruce a story teller, and Carol from Cherish Bound)

Cherish Bound is one of the sponsors of the festival, and Carol was there to help us get excited about making our own stories! Cherish Bound helps you make these fantastic photo/story books for all your treasured memories. I have been working on my Cherish Bound book all weekend, and I am totally diggin' my end result. With all the craziness that is taking place in my life right now, I have kind of been slackin' on the scrapbooking...this is an easy and quick way to catch up. I am excited to get my Cherish Bound book in the mail...I will most def be showing off my end result. =)

AND no post would be complete without showing you some of my girls!Jones and I
Kim and IRebecca, myself, and Vanessa

Cherish Bound also does parties...so I was thinking how fun it would be to have everyone bring over their laptops, and we could sit and chit chat....and makes books!

Food Review: Main Street Deli

If you have ever gone to the movies with us, you know we don't hold back because of the prices. It is our time to splurge, and have some fun. Only a few movie theaters in our area have the food court that you can actually take the food in...so those have become where we frequent. Our night is not complete without stopping by the deli. The Main Street Deli is the only place that I will buy food though. I have tried other places, but I am always disappointed. Since it is a little pricey I like to get something that I know is amazing.
This is the Roast Beef Sandwich. Yummo! We always order ours on sour dough bread. Paul will order his with cheddar cheese, and I get swiss. You can have it cold or hot, but why would you ever get it cold...when you have the option of melty cheese, and toasted bread. =) It is approx $10 for this meal, but oh so worth it! I think the best part is that you get to eat this delicious sandwich while enjoying Transformers!!
The address of the movie theater is...
11400 South Bangerter Highway
In South Jordan, Utah (of course!)
Dieting is not for me, a muffin top is what I'll be!

yeah, I look as bad as I feel!

Van and Paul have been avoiding me, and do you blame them? I slept on the couch, and thank goodness for my laptop to keep me company. I have got all caught up on my cooking shows, and I think that I only have 20 something posts left in my google reader. =) This definitely is not the weekend that I was hoping for, but I will make up for some lost time in the next couple of weeks with some getaways with just the 3 of us.

Swine Flu: Update

I was thinking that I was over reacting this morning...and then the Dr. announces to me "We are going to treat you for Swine Flu." The one time in my life that all my paranoia is going to pay off. They caught it early enough that I hopefully won't feel any sicker than I do right now...which by the way is not very sick. If this flu hadn't have been going around, I would have totally gone to work feeling this way.

My symptoms:

  • scratchy throat
  • cough
  • hold/cold flashes
  • little bit of congestion
  • slight headache

Did you know that when adults go and get tested for the Swine Flu that only 30% of the results are actually accurate. People are being told that they don't have it, and they really do. That is what happened to my friend, and then when he went back a few days later...he was tested again, and was told he did indeed have the Swine Flu. Oh, and when you don't get in the early stages like I did...you just have to let it run it's course. You can't take the medication at that point, because it won't help. Lovely huh?

The thing that I feel the worst about is that I went to an event last night, and mingled with a lot of you that are going to read this. I HAD NO IDEA THAT I HAD ANYTHING WRONG WITH ME! I would have NEVER come knowing that I was going to give you anything, but my love! I am truly sorry if any of you get it. I will owe you chicken noodle soup for a year, or should I make the person that gave it to me owe you and I both chicken noodle soup for a year!?

So, what is on the agenda for the weekend? I have been sentenced to my bedroom with the laptop...no contact with the outside work, except for my blog, e-mail, and twitter. Not that I don't love blog stalking, and reading random twitter updates, I do...I just don't look forward to 72 hours straight of it.

Swine Flu

This picture was funny a couple of days when I took it...it is not as funny this morning. Multiple people at work have had the Swine Flu, or I guess they are calling it something different nowadays. I have been taking ANYTHING, and EVERYTHING to protect myself from it. I called the Dr. this morning, because quite frankly I am feeling paranoid. Apparently they are too, because they got me right in. When I say right in, my appointment is in an hour. Wish me luck. I am very nervous. I am probably totally over reacting. I would rather be safe than sorry, and be nice to everyone around me...by not passing it. I'll fill ya'll in soon. =(

I really am sad.

I don't care what you say...I love Michael Jackson for his music and dancing!! I only dream of being able to groove like him, and look good doing it. I am sad that there will be no chance of more music, and no chance of me ever seeing him in concert. {tear}
You can comment as long as you promise to not make fun of me, -k-?!

We all {heart} CUPCAKES!

There is no better way to spend a night out with the girls than at this place! It is an adorable little bakery with every kind of cupcake imaginable! I have had the chance to try several of their flavors...and all of them are delish! Oh, and I still have a list of flavors to try. Jones from Keeping Up With Mom
The PAIGEMandy who owns The Potty Pansy (she is UH-mazing).

You must try this place out...even if you don't live in the Provo area it is worth the trip.

1227 S University Ave in Provo...of course!

famous.

Paige won the Scentsy giveaway. Paige RAWKS. Paige is famous in my book. Famous for her "myspace photo shots". Her whole header is pictures just like this one... except with her hubbs, of course!
I was so excited to meet her. Chalk up another blogging friend that I love! I am sad that we didn't meet before now, because Paige is moving to the big city...L.A!
Congrats on the move, and I am glad that we got to meet IRL!

Celebrate good times...come on!

As one of the backstage bloggers for the Mom's Who Make It Conference, I was able to go to a taste testing at Utah Celebrations Catering. We were able to sample some of the food that will be served at the Conference. If you haven't figured it out already, I love food...and can you imagine how happy I was when they told me that we would be trying their South of the Border menu!? My favorite kind of food! Yes, this is as good as it looks. I was extremely impressed with how fresh everything was...the tortilla was made right in front of us, and made for a steaming hot fajita.
I absolutely loved the presentation! Who would have thought of using large martini glasses for condiment dishes!? So fancy! We were served this fruit drink that was the MOST DELICIOUS and addictive drink...Peach Lemonade. =) So delicious that I think that I had 5 glasses...maybe more.
All of this food made me more excited for the conference. I still can't believe that it will only cost $5 to add this kind of a meal to your ticket. Let me just tell you, this ain't no Mickey D's peeps!

Has any of you signed up yet?

You don't have to be a Mom to come...so don't use that one as an excuse! =) Do you feel like none of the topics that are being discussed are things that you are interested in? Then just come to hang out with the girls. It will be fun!!! =) Can't wait to hear who is going to make it!!

Wordless Wednesday: Friends

I became friends with all three of these hotties, because they commented on my blog! =)

Guest Post by Paul with a GIVEAWAY!

Is there anyone out there who can explain the price of gasoline? Why do prices go up over $4.00/gallon, then fall to about $1.30/gallon, then double to $2.54/gallon? This all happened in less that a year.
I once heard that we (USA) had enough oil to last us the next 20 years or more. So, I did some research. I found out that we do have a supply of over 700 million barrels of oil. That sounded like a lot until I realized that would only last us about 33 days. I found out that the oil we have is currently under the ground in Alaska.
I don't know about you, but I don't understand why we aren't trying to get that oil. I know, conservationists will say we are ruining the wildlife and the land we have. I say that's true, but at what cost are we saving it? If I'm not mistaken, the Gulf War was basically about oil. We wanted it, the Middle East controls it. I'm guessing that the last war we were in (is it still going?), probably had something to do with oil too. Although, we were told it was about weapons of mass destruction (never found), that's a whole different topic. My point is, can't we work something out so that we can control flow of oil in America, as opposed to counting on others. Why not force the companies who drill for oil in Alaska to pay a sizable portion of what they make to rebuild wildlife elsewhere? There has to be a better way.
I often hear how it is our fault because we consume too much oil, that we drive gas guzzlers that fund terrorists. I believe it was GM, Chrysler, and Ford who got rich selling these vehicles to us, and who are now broke because we stopped buying them. Then, our government decides to use our tax dollars to bail them out. Hmmm...is that confusing to anyone else? If you want us to use less oil, make it easier and cheaper for us. Why do Hybrids cost more than normal cars? A Hybrid Civic costs about $10,000 more than a normal Civic. That would take like 10 years to break even, no point in doing that!

What do you think America should do to solve the problem?
Let me know and you will be entered to win a $25 gas card to Flying J to help out on that summer vacation getaway.
If you are a follower, you get 5 extra entries!
(only one comment is necessary)
This giveaway will end June 28th at Midnight MST

our little family

Because of our crazy busy schedule lately, when I get a chance to hang out at home...I jump at it. Saturday nights are normally spent at the movie theater, but we mixed it up this past weekend. We rented a movie, bought theater popcorn, let Van pick out some ridiculous candy that she always begs for, and stayed up way past our bed time. It was a success. Van even stayed up for the whole movie, which didn't end until Midnight. It made me realize that it doesn't matter what the 3 of us do...we will always have fun.
